Angel Reese's brother just did something the NBA hasn't seen since Shaq and Tim Duncan

On Aug. 18, 2024, Angel Reese became the youngest player to record at least 18 points and 10 or more offensive rebounds in a game when she did so for the Chicago Sky in a loss to the Phoenix Mercury.

A little over 18 months later, her younger brother Julian became the youngest player to record those stats in an NBA game.

In just his third NBA game for the Washington Wizards, Julian Reese recorded 18 points and 20 rebounds in a 122-112 loss to the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.

It is the early high point in the 22-year-old power forward's NBA career, and it already has him brushing shoulders with elite company.

Reese joined Tim Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal as the only players in the past 40 years to post a 20-rebound game within their first five career games.

In the last 40 years, only 3 NBA players have had a 20-rebound game within the first 5 games of their career.

Duncan and O'Neal, obviously, are Hall of Fame inductees with a combined nine NBA titles and three MVP awards between them.

It is way too early to determine whether Reese is going to have a career even remotely comparable to Duncan or O'Neal. But what is apparent already is that the rebounding gene in the Reese family didn't stop at Angel.
