The Las Vegas Raiders are releasing quarterback Geno Smith, according to several media reports Friday morning.
The Seahawks traded Smith to the Raiders almost exactly a year ago, with the QB leaving Seattle for a third-round draft pick with news breaking on March 7, 2025.
Geno Smith and former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll reunited in Las Vegas last season, but it didn’t go well. The Raiders went 3-14 and Carroll was fired after the season after spending one year with the silver and black.
Smith, who signed a two-year $75 million contract extension before the season, led the league in interceptions with 17.
The Raiders, who have the top pick in next month’s NFL draft, are widely expected to take Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
