Arne Slot insists Liverpool star is being targeted by opponents
Arne Slot believes Ryan Gravenberch is being targeted by opponents intent on stopping Liverpool's attacking game.
Gravenberch was substituted at half-time for the first time in the Premier League under Slot after a poor performance in the 2-1 defeat at Wolves on Tuesday evening.
It followed a below-par display in the most recent previous away outing at Nottingham Forest, although the midfielder did provide an assist for Hugo Ekitike in the home 5-2 win over West Ham United last weekend.
Having been one of the Premier League players of the season in helping the Reds to a record-equalling 20th title last year, Gravenberch has found matters more testing this term in his defensive midfield role.
And Slot accepts the 23-year-old is having to adapt to rival teams deliberately making life difficult for him in the engine room.

Liverpool line-ups as Rio Ngumoha and Mohamed Salah decisions made
As always before Liverpool matches, we get our Liverpool writers to pick their preferred line-ups.
Ian Doyle and Mark Jones have gone with for this evening's fifth-round tie.
Reflecting and watching the (Tuesday's) game back and what we’ve been able to say with the boys, they’re a brilliant team and they’ve got great players. They might make one or two changes, but I don’t anticipate loads of change tactically, because it could still cause us problems what they do.
But I think they’ll look to try and do things better and quicker, and we’ve got to be ready for that. There was actually a lot of good stuff in the first half without us then carrying enough threat, and we were actually pretty good without the ball and there was some really good moments with it as well.
But once we actually broke a line or got behind their midfield, we needed to be a bit better.
The game then started opening up a little bit more in the latter stages and we looked a bit of a threat, but I thought the impact of the lads coming on was really good.

That's the big question, isn't it? The exciting teenager made an impact off the bench on Tuesday and it does feel like he needs to be unleashed from the start.
