Could Ben Johnson and the Bears poach a former Lions center?
The Detroit Lions began their offseason work immediately after their final game of the recently-completed 2025 NFL season in which they took down the rival Chicago Bears, who are now led by former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
GM Brad Holmes has already made the decision to part ways with veteran offensive lineman Graham Glasgow, who started 14 games for the Lions in 2025, and it will save them $5.5 million against the salary cap for next season.
But what are the chances that Glasgow could not only continue his career in the NFL, but do so with the Bears? One Chicago writer believes that there could be a potential fit between the two sides.

Could Former Detroit Lions Center Graham Glasgow Go To The Chicago Bears And Reunite With Ben Johnson?
According to Chris Schad of FanSided, the Bears could entice Glasgow to come to the Windy City, where he could potentially thrive in a backup role.
Schad notes the obvious connection to Johnson, whom he played under during his time in Detroit. Additionally, Glasgow could serve as a replacement for Ryan Bates.
“Glasgow already has experience playing for head coach Ben Johnson as he was the starting left guard and temporary backup center during the 2023 and 2024 seasons,” Schad wrote. “He also has a better track record than Bates, who has been a disappointment in that role since signing a four-year, $17 million contract as a restricted free agent before the start of the 2022 season.”
“With Bates set to enter free agency, the Bears could use a replacement and Glasgow could fit the bill, especially with PFSN’s Jacob Infante noting his 31 career starts under Johnson in Detroit,” Schad continued. “If he’s willing to be a reserve, he could be a solution to an under-the-radar need for the Bears this season and could help Chicago continue to strengthen their offensive line going into next year.”

Graham Glasgow Bid An Emotional Farewell To The Lions After His Release
After the news of his release was made official, Glasgow took to social media to bid an emotional farewell message to the organization, the fans, and his teammates.
“I’m grateful for the 7 years I’ve spent as a Detroit Lion,” Glasgow wrote on his X account. “I’m thankful for the great teammates, coaches, and friends I had along the way. I love this city and the fans that have supported me for the better part of a decade. There truly was no place I would have rather been. Whether the times were good or bad, I’m proud of the time that I was able to spend here.
Detroit and being a Lion has had a huge impact on making me into the man that I am today, and because of that, it will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish the Lions, especially my former teammates, nothing but the best.
I will always be a fan of the guys who I took the field with, and I’ll always be a fan of the team that changed my life. Thank you!”
