The New England Patriots are moving on from Stefon Diggs when the new league year starts, and he should be able to find a new team fairly easily.
Diggs was set to have a $26.5 million cap hit next season. The Patriots did not want to deal with that and will "free up $16.8 million on the cap and will be hit with $9.7 million in dead money," per MassLive's Mark Daniels. Diggs will likely have to settle for a cheaper deal in free agency, but he should draw interest.
He posted over 1,000 yards coming off a torn ACL and led the Patriots in receiving. FOX Sports' Greg Auman predicted Diggs would sign with the Tennessee Titans in free agency.
"Diggs, 32, is a four-time Pro Bowl receiver, and his postseason lull contributed to him getting cut by the Patriots," wrote Auman. "Only four touchdowns last year, so he might never get back his Bills heyday from 2020-23. His next team might pay him half of what the Patriots did, but he can still be a solid No. 2 receiver somewhere."
The Titans would lean on Diggs heavily next season if they signed him. Diggs and Calvin Ridley could be a great duo for Cam Ward to throw to as he continues to develop. Robert Saleh will be looking to turn the Titans around quickly, and adding Diggs will help. His off-the-field legal situation still needs to be solved, but he proved he can still be a productive receiver last season.
