Three Chelsea players named in Premier League Team of the Week after Aston Villa win

While Joao Pedro stole the headlines as far as Chelsea are concerned from their 4-1 win over Aston Villa, there was an impressive performance from Alejandro Garnacho that will have really delighted his manager too.

Liam Rosenior had been full of praise for Garnacho before the game, and was rewarded with his decision to start the winger.

He looked dangerous all night at Villa Park, providing the assist for Pedro’s hat-trick goal on a night where Chelsea entered themselves back into the race for a top four finish.

Alejandro Garnacho makes Premier League Team of the Week

It was clear that Pedro was going to be named in WhoScored’s Team of the Week in the Premier League, however it is the first time this season that Garnacho has been handed that honour.

Cole Palmer brings up the final Chelsea representative in the side. He was back on the scoresheet in a big game when he smashed home the third for the Blues.

After criticism of his defensive work during his last start against West Ham, the former Manchester United man answered in style against Aston Villa.

Garnacho topped the stats for ground duels won, whilst also ending up with 100% passing success rate.

With Jamie Gittens misfiring before he suffered a hamstring injury, the left-wing position is there for the taking should Garnacho be up for the battle.

Rosenior’s ongoing mission to sort left-wing issue

Everyone has been given a chance in the left-wing position since Rosenior took over, including players who have not regularly featured in this role.

Enzo Fernandez has started a number of games on the left, however has seen his influence on the game drop when he has.

Rosenior is desperately looking for someone to nail down that position, and Garnacho has a real chance to do so.

Given his limited amount of starts of late, it is likely that he remains in the side to take on Wrexham in the FA Cup on Saturday.
