“It’s an incredible achievement,” Silva said after Jimenez became the highest-scoring Mexican in Premier League history.

“I’m really pleased for him because we all know he had a really bad moment [with his head injury], not just in his career but in his life. He was really down when we signed him, but we showed trust in him and it’s paying off.”

Everton’s need for a new striker in the summer

Moyes has praised Beto and Barry in recent weeks, but the reality is neither of them are showing an ability to score regularly in the starting XI.

A move for Jimenez would be interesting for Everton, as the striker has bags of Premier League experience.

Soon to turn 35 years of age in May, Jimenez has racked up 225 appearances in the English top flight.

Jimenez has provided a return of eight goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, which is more than both of Everton’s current strikers.

Beto thanked Everton fans for their support recently, but both he and Barry still have a lot to prove before the end of the season.
