The agent of iconic Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has sensationally shut down links over a return to football management.

The German has been mooted with a move to Atletico Madrid to replace Diego Simeone. It was reported by outlets in Spain that Klopp, who left Liverpool in May 2024, was in advanced talks with the La Liga giants with the Argentinian head coach having 18 months remaining on his contract in the Spanish capital.

Klopp has been out of the dugout since his shock Anfield exit. He has since taken up a role within Red Bull as the organisation's Head of Global Soccer where he helps oversee operations across the multi-club network.

In recent weeks, reports linking Klopp with a return to management have intensified as speculation has emerged claiming that the 58-year-old has found his fire to lead teams again. However, Marc Kosicke has reportedly told Arabic media outlet WinWinAllSports that murmurs of a return to management for his client, and in particular Atleti, are "stupid rumours".

It was suggested that Marc Rowan, the CEO of Apollo, Atletico's main club shareholder, viewed Klopp as the ideal candidate to steer the club to a new era after the end of Simeone's reign.

Only last week, it was reported in Austria that Red Bull would not stand in the way of the former Liverpool manager if he wanted to return to football management.

Salzburger Nachrichten, via BILD, claimed that they would not stand in his way if he was open to a return to management.

If he did so wish to step foot back in the dugout, the outlet has claimed that departing Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has been chosen as his successor and is a ready-made replacement.

However, it was Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff who dismissed the suggestions of an exit for Klopp. He said: "This is complete nonsense and completely plucked out of thin air.

"On the contrary, we are extremely satisfied with the work Jurgen Klopp is doing.

"He invests a great deal of time and effort, he is in constant communication with our coaches and sporting directors, and continues to develop our Red Bull football philosophy in a sustainable way.

"We are convinced that he is the right man for this job. That is where we are putting all our focus and energy."

The German will return to Anfield this month when he joins Sir Kenny Dalglish for the legends match against Borussia Dortmund on March 28.
