Chelsea hero Salomon Kalou predicts Carlo Ancelotti treatment for Estevao

Chelsea legend Salomon Kalou has tipped Estevao Willian for stardom, claiming the teenager’s exposure to Carlo Ancelotti on the international stage will accelerate his journey.

Salomon Kalou and Carlo Ancelotti’s time together at Chelsea was a successful one. Under the Italian’s leadership, Kalou evolved into the ultimate super-sub.

The 2009/10 season stands as a high point, as Ancelotti guided Chelsea to their first-ever Premier League and FA Cup Double, breaking the league scoring record with 103 goals.

Kalou was a vital component of this relentless attacking machine, often providing the crucial breakthrough needed to unlock stubborn defenses. Ancelotti’s management style resonated with Kalou, who appreciated the freedom and confidence the manager instilled in his attacking players.

And even today, Kalou is still keeping an eye on Chelsea and offering his advice.

Salomon Kalou thinks Carlo Ancelotti will transform Estevao Willian

Speaking on his former boss, Salomon Kalou is of the belief that Carlo Ancelotti will help Estevao reach that next level in the time he spends with the national team.

He joined the Obi One podcast, alongside John Obi Mikel.

“The talent is there. There are a few I like, Caicedo, he’s an amazing player.

“Estevao is also getting there as a young player. He’s getting confidence with the national team as well because he’s playing under Ancelotti. He will grow to become an important player on the team.”

How Carlo Ancelotti can transform Estevao

Carlo Ancelotti is renowned for his player-centric approach, famously unlocking the potential of young attackers like Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo by giving them the freedom to express themselves.

By working under the Italian, Estevao is gaining a masterclass in elite-level decision-making and big-game temperament that few 18-year-olds can access.

His tactical know-how will help Estevao translate his raw dribbling ability into consistent output, teaching him exactly when to take on a defender and when to facilitate play. Returning to Chelsea with the backing of the world’s most decorated manager can only be good for the youngster.

Ancelotti has already gifted Estevao a place in his World Cup squad.
