According to ESPN reporters Anthony Slater and Ramona Shelburne, the Warriors were among multiple teams that reached out to the Los Angeles Clippers about Leonard while the Clippers evaluated roster changes ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline.
Los Angeles appeared to signal a shift in direction with its moves. The Clippers dealt both James Harden and Ivica Zubac at the deadline.
With those changes, several teams began checking on Leonard's availability. The veteran forward still has one year remaining on his contract worth $50.3 million.
This season, Leonard is averaging 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 steals.
Leonard will turn 35 in June, and the LA Clippers are expected to reassess his long-term role with the franchise during the upcoming offseason.
