Does Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson know something the general public does not when it comes to a possible blockbuster move by his team this offseason?
Almost certainly. And he indicated as much with a cryptic social media post on Friday, simply putting the super-happy smiling face emoji above the Denzel Washington “Boom” meme from his Academy Award-winning performance in “Training Day” as evil LAPD detective Alonzo Harris.
What could make Jackson, a 2-time NFL MVP, so happy?
While speculation was rife about what that might be, the majority seemed to think it was centered around a possible trade for 3-time NFL All-Pro Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Jackson was in a flurry of social media activity on Friday, following his X post with several posts to his Instagram stories, including 1 of him praying in the Ravens locker room captioned with “Thank You Jesus” and a prayer hands emoji along with a selfie of his new haircut.
Did finding out he was going to get to play with 1 of the NFL’s elite wide receivers send him on a social media spree your 15-year-old younger sibling could relate to? We’ll find out soon enough.
Incredible Asking Price for Superstar Wide Receiver
There seem to be 2 major components to the Eagles trying to trade Brown, who has whined and complained his way out of Philadelphia over the last 2 seasons.
The 1st component is the asking price for Brown.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is using the trade the Dallas Cowboys used to obtain NFL All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams in 2025 as the template.
In that trade, the New York Jets received a 2027 1st round pick, 2026 2nd round pick and backup defensive tackle Mazi Smith — a former 1st round pick — in exchange for Williams.
“My understanding is teams are making offers to the Eagles (for Brown), and to this point they have not gotten to the point at which the Eagles would make the move,” Garafolo said on Wednesday. “At this point, it’s a Quinnen Williams-type deal with a 1st round pick and a 2nd round sweetener on it … if they don’t get to that point or close to that point, I don’t think Howie Roseman moves him.”
Eagles Also Want Brown Out of the NFC
The second part of any trade for Brown was reportedly the Eagles not wanting him to wind up in a situation where he might be able to come back and haunt them — specifically by making sure he gets traded to an AFC team.
That revelation came after Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore was traded to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday. The Bills were considered one of the leading teams in the hunt to obtain Brown from the Eagles.
“The Bills trading for WR D.J. Moore would theoretically take them out of the A.J. Brown market,” The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane wrote on his official X account on Thursday. “They checked in with theEagles about their wide receiver, from what I understand. Patriots and Ravens are the most likely potential partners, especially as I understand it, the Eagles inclined to only deal with AFC teams.”
