Joel Embiid is expected to miss several more games for the Philadelphia 76ers with a strained oblique, with the team planning to re-evaluate him in about a week.
The Philadelphia 76ers will have to manage without their star center for a little while longer.
Philadelphia 76ers / Schedule
Joel Embiid has already missed three consecutive games because of a strained right oblique, and the big man is expected to remain sidelined for several more matchups, according to Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.
The team confirmed that Embiid was not present for Friday's practice session and has not yet returned to on-court activity. Philadelphia plans to evaluate his condition again in roughly a week.
If that schedule holds, Embiid would miss Saturday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, Monday's matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Tuesday's contest versus the Memphis Grizzlies, and likely Thursday's game against the Detroit Pistons.
Health problems have again disrupted Embiid's season. The former MVP has played in only 33 games so far while dealing with multiple ailments, including issues with his knee, ankle, shin, and, most recently, his oblique.
Despite the setbacks, Embiid has still produced strong numbers, averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
