Dallas Cowboys named a top landing spot for released 4x Pro Bowl wide receiver

The Dallas Cowboys have a wide variety of needs to address on their roster ahead of the 2026 NFL season. While most of these are on the defensive side of the ball, they do have a situation to address at the wide receiver position.

It is well-known by now that the Cowboys have placed the franchise tag on George Pickens. In his first season in Dallas, Pickens had the best year of his career. Last year, he recorded 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns.

With CeeDee Lamb, an All-Pro receiver in his own right, Dallas boasts one of the best pass catching duos in the NFL. That being said, there is a possibility that they could make the position even more formidable.

The Dallas Cowboys could sign Stefon Diggs

With the flurry of contract restructures that Dallas did this week, they are under the 2026 NFL salary cap. What is more, there are more roster moves and restructures they can do in order to create more space.

And while there are more pressing needs, it is possible that the Cowboys could go after recently released four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Recently, Bleacher Report released an article detailing the best landing spots for Diggs, writing:

“Even if Dallas works out a long-term agreement with Pickens, it could still add Stefon Diggs to the mix. Owner Jerry Jones can look to further maximize his investment in quarterback Dak Prescott.

“CeeDee Lamb, Pickens and Diggs can co-exist in the same offense. In the last few years, Diggs has taken a significant number of snaps out of the slot. Lamb and Pickens rotated inside last season. They’re all interchangeable as it pertains to their pre-snap positions.

“Lastly, Diggs is familiar with Cowboys’ passing game specialist, Ken Dorsey, who served as his offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills from 2022 to 2023.”

Last year, in his only season with the Buffalo Bills, Diggs recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.

Obviously, a receiving core of Lamb, Pickens, and Diggs would be better than any top three wideouts in the NFL. However, the challenge would be getting each of them enough targets to keep them happy.
