Luis Diaz sent Liverpool a painful reminder of their forward struggles as he impressed yet again for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Friday night.

The Colombian international bagged a goal and an assist in the first half of his team's clash with Borussia Monchengladbach, helping to give them a two-goal lead heading into half-time. It was Diaz's 20th goal of the season and 16th assist of the campaign, underlining his quality since joining the German giants.

At the same time as he was bagging a goal and an assist, Liverpool was being left frustrated in the opening 45 minutes of their encounter with Wolves. Open play chances haven't been easy for the Reds to come by as of late, with the lack of Diaz's quality in the team among the many factors impacting the Merseyside outfit this campaign.

The 29-year-old has featured 34 times for Bayern Munich this season, since making the £65.5million switch from Liverpool last summer. In making the move, Diaz has continued the form that saw him score 41 goals and assist 23 times across 148 appearances for the Reds.

Given Liverpool's struggles in creating and scoring since his exit, Arne Slot has admitted that his side are missing the winger this season. He told the press last month: "You always miss good football players. He was so important for us last season, but he wasn’t the only one.

"There were more players that were influential in our results, but I think we have replaced them with very good players as well. It is maybe more fair to say that if Alex [Isak] had been fit, would we have spoken about it then as well?”

Diaz's goal and assist for Bayern not only provided a painful reminder of his exit, but so too did a lacklustre first half display from Liverpool. It was an opening half at Molineux that was reminiscent of the Premier League fixture between the two sides just a few days prior to the match.

Slot watched on as his team were reduced to very few chances by the hosts, before goals from Rodrigo Gomes and Andre cancelled out Mohamed Salah's 83rd minute strike, handing Wolves a dramatic late win.
