Andy Robertson backed up an impressive performance at Wolves with a classy interview after the 3-1 win, which mixed personal disappointment with elite professionalism.
Robertson is in the final year of his contract and in the last two transfer windows has come close to leaving the club, first to Atletico Madrid and then Tottenham.
He has watched Milos Kerkez take over as the first-choice left-back and consequently seen a significant reduction in his minutes, which currently stands at 1,444 across 27 appearances.
At Wolves, however, he underlined what he still has to offer Liverpool with a goal and assist in a Man of the Match-worthy performance, leaving BBC Sports to make a beeline for a post-match interview.
Asked if he has a point to prove, Robertson said: “Look, I’m not sure I’ve got a point to prove in a Liverpool shirt.

“I think the fans know that I get everything every time I come on the pitch, and I hope they believe that.
“And I’ve done that for nine years now. So it’s not really that. It’s just, you know, when you get on the pitch, you just want to enjoy it.
“I love playing football. I love training with these lads. I love playing with them. And when you get the opportunity to go on the pitch, I just want to make the most of it. I think I’ve done that today.”

Robertson’s comments were full of acceptance for Liverpool looking to the future, but also an obvious ambition to be utilised when he was asked if he felt he deserved more game time.
“Look, it is what it is,” Robertson said in reply.
“Milos is a fantastic left-back, had an unbelievable season last season at Bournemouth, took a little bit of time to settle in to a big club, which everyone does.
“But you know, the club have to move forward. You know, the lads that have been here for so long, we’re not getting any younger.
“We’re all in our 30s now, and the replacements have to come in. We know that, that’s what we want for the club.
“We want them to be ambitious, and we want them to go and compete on all fronts, you have to accept it.
“I’ve had competition my whole career, and it’s no different this season. Obviously, I’ve not played as many games as maybe I would have liked, but that’s part of football.
“Just when you do play, you’ve just got to go and enjoy it. I think I’ve done that tonight.”
