It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or at least when it comes to the NFL’s offseason: free agency. The league’s free agency period officially kicks off on Wednesday, March 11, and the list of available free agents is jam-packed with stars.
Now, the projections are rolling in, and on Friday, March 6, Dan Graziano of ESPN named his top NFL free agents and expected landing spots for each.
“Some of these projections will look silly a week from now. Others could look absolutely brilliant,” he notes in the piece. “But this is a snapshot of how the people around the NFL I’m talking to are sizing things up with a few days to go, knowing of course that a lot can change over the course of one frantic weekend.”
When it comes to the Philadelphia Eagles, he sees the team snagging cornerback Montaric Brown in a $30 million with $15 million guaranteed deal.
“A surprisingly buzzy name at last week’s combine, the 26-year-old Brown should draw interest from multiple teams,” he states in the feature. “He pulled in two interceptions last season in Jacksonville. And he should land a strong deal from a team looking for CB help but unwilling or unable to spend in the Riq Woolen/Jaylen Watson/Jamel Dean end of the market.”
In The Athletic’s 2026 free agency countdown, they say of Brown, “A 2022 seventh-round pick, Brown took over a starting role at outside cornerback in Week 6. He set a career high with 12 passes defended, including two interceptions, fitting well in coordinator Anthony Campanile's diverse scheme.”
The Athletic adds, “Brown has good size. He is comfortable and in control as a zone defender, both in tracking deep-developing routes and triggering on underneath routes.”
So, while Brown might not be a flashy name, he could very well be of use to this franchise hungry to get back to the Super Bowl on the back of Jalen Hurts and company.
