The Pats could get some reinforcement on the EDGE if unable to keep K'Lavon Chaisson
The New England Patriots may be unable to bring back K’Lavon Chaisson after the former first-round selection had the best season of his career, recording 7.5 sacks, with the EDGE rusher wanting to cash in on the upcoming free agency.
Pro Football Focus‘s Mason Cameron mentions that if the Pats are unable to bring Chaisson back, the team should take a shot at bringing in former five-time Pro Bowl EDGE rusher Joey Bosa.
“K’Lavon Chaisson’s breakout 2025 season will lead to a likely payday on the open market (PFF projects $15 million average annual value). Should the Patriots be unable to retain him, they would likely need to explore other options,” Cameron wrote. “Veterans like Joey Bosa ($11 million)… may jump at the chance to play for a contender while coming at a slight discount, per PFF contract projections.”
Bosa was last with the Buffalo Bills on a one-year deal, recording 5 sacks for the AFC East team.
The third overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft mentioned that part of the reason he joined the Bills for the 2025 season was to win, and what better way to fight for a championship than joining one of the teams that made the most recent Super Bowl.
Getting a Strong Defensive Line

While possibly replacing K’Lavon Chaisson with Joey Bosa, the New England Patriots also have another core member of the defensive front 4 heading into free agency.
Khyiris Tonga, who is a key defender in the run game, will test free agency waters after his one-year deal with the Pats, with executive Eliot Wolf talking highly of the interior defender.
“I think just being able to affect the quarterback is tremendously important, whether that’s from the interior or on the exterior. I know a lot of quarterbacks – talking to people throughout the league, a lot of quarterbacks actually are more worried about the interior pressure because they can’t step up,” Wolf said.
“Khyiris Tonga, who’s a free agent… and some of the other guys that we had that were playing in there that were able to provide that push.”
Spotrac projects that Tonga will receive a two-year, $6.27 million deal, which can allow the New to go out and sign pieces for the EDGE, five-time Pro Bowler Joey Bosa.
Adding Notable Wide Receiver

With the release of Stefon Diggs, the New England Patriots look to add another wide receiver to the roster.
Recent news reveals that the Pats are interested in wide receiver AJ Brown and Alec Pierce.
New England would require trading a first-round and a second-round selection to acquire the Philadelphia Eagles‘ talent.
Pierce’s rookie deal is over and his future with the Indianapolis Colts is in jeopardy after Indy used a transition tag on Daniel Jones, which doesn’t guarantee enough salary cap space for the team to retain the wide receiver.
Both players are likely to leave their respective teams, leaving the New England Patriots open to land one of the receivers.
