The NFL’s new league year is approaching, and teams will soon be able to sign free agents. Many free agents will find themselves a new home rather quickly for 2026.
The Arizona Cardinals released quarterback Kyler Murray ahead of the 2026 new league year. Murray appears to have a preferred destination for the upcoming season.

Reports indicate that the Minnesota Vikings lead the Kyler Murray 2026 sweepstakes. Murray’s interest makes sense as the Vikings are loaded with weapons.

Not only are they loaded with playmakers, but Kevin O’Connell helped revive the career of Super Bowl champion Sam Darnold. Darnold played for the Vikings in 2024 and got paid big in the 2025 free agency period.

Murray will likely have to compete with JJ McCarthy for the starting role. However, McCarthy has been very underwhelming.

Reports have indicated that the Vikings are considering washing their hands of McCarthy altogether. Regardless, it’s more reasonable than not to expect some type of competition in the Twin Cities.

Murray is a polarizing quarterback figure in the NFL. There is no denying his talent. He has incredible mobility and excellent arm talent.
The problems surrounding Murray have been questions about his dedication to the game and, of course, his height. Whether these are fair or not remains anyone’s debate. They still surround the quarterback, however.
One thing is for certain: Murray is an absolute upgrade over McCarthy.
