Arne Slot saluted Andy Robertson’s “love” of playing for Liverpool as the left-back helped propel the Reds a step nearer a return to Wembley.
Robertson was key to a quickfire double at the start of the second half that sent Slot’s side on their way to a 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round win at Premier League strugglers Wolves on Friday evening.
The Scotland international struck a long-range opener and two minutes later crossed for Mohamed Salah to score a second that was allowed after a VAR check.
Curtis Jones notched a fine solo goal 16 minutes from time to render Hee-Chan Hwang’s injury-time effort a mere consolation as Liverpool earned revenge for their 2-1 league loss at Molineux on Tuesday.

Robertson, who started in place of the rested Milos Kerkez at left-back, was close to joining Tottenham Hotspur in January but ultimately continued a Liverpool career that started in the summer of 2017.
And Slot said: “If you talk about a goal and an assist, the first player you think about is probably not a full-back. So if you add that to a team that, until the 93rd minute, did not concede a chance and he is of course a part of that then it is really positive.
“He loves the club and he loves to play in front of these fans.
“These fans were again amazing, by the way, three days after they were so disappointed like us, they had to go again on a Friday evening. I don’t know if it was all the same as there were more here because it’s the FA Cup.”
Slot added: “Robbo has in the one-and-a-half years I have been here given his everything for the club. I think the fans will tell me he did this for all the years he has been here.
“Every time I need him or the club needs him, he tries to give his best. That’s again what he did tonight. Not only scoring and having an assist, but he defended well.
“Calm, with composure on the ball, and that’s crucial because if you play against a team where the full-backs are constantly open, you need in those positions players who make the right decision, and that’s that Robbo and Dom (Szoboszlai) did tonight.”
Robertson’s goal was only his second for Liverpool in approaching two years, while his assist for Salah’s second goal in three days was just his fourth since Slot assumed charge.
And the Reds boss said: “The first goal he scored was not a great chance, it was a 20-yard shot which we had a lot of three days ago.
“And now this one goes in after Cody (Gakpo) and Mo did a good job in the lead up to that goal. And the second goal follows straight away after, again Cody having a good role in that attack, dropping as a number nine and switching it to Rio (Ngumoha).
“It was a great overlap by Robbo and Mo he is hardly ever offside, which is one of the most special things. He has a lot of special things, but that is definitely one of them. So when the linesman raised his flag, I was straight away questioning him and that seemed to be fair because he wasn't offside.
“Two-nil up and then it opens up a lot more than it did three days ago and the rest, it was an identical game."
