The Detroit Lions have long wanted to get Michigan native Maxx Crosby in the squad, and the Las Vegas Raiders seem willing to trade him.
At this point, Maxx Crosby trade talk is dominating the NFL, and the Detroit Lions are one of the teams that’s often linked to Crosby.
The Lions, of course, have an elite edge in Aidan Hutchinson, but he can’t do it alone. Having a veteran, such as Crosby, by his side would make for a dynamic, and very intimidating, defensive roster for Detroit.
So, it’s really now or never for the Detroit Lions to get Crosby. He’s in his prime, and according to NFL research, during the 2025 NFL regular season, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception. Crosby would make an apt partner for Hutchinson, and that’s why the Lions are often linked with him, even though Holmes doesn’t like to invest too much funding into the edge position.
Maxx Crosby Trade Talk Moves Away From the Detroit Lions, According to Report From NFL Insider
Crosby is a Michigan native, and it would seem fitting to have him back in his home state to close out his NFL career. But, there are other teams interested in him, and they may shelve out the bag to get him over the Detroit Lions.
Now, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic has dropped a report that gives more information on the status of Crosby trade talks, and it’s not good for the Detroit Lions.
On Friday, March 6, Russini took to X to state that two teams are still very interested in Crosby and working closely with the Raiders on a deal.
“Maxx Crosby is drawing serious interest around the league,” she stated. “The Dallas Cowboys are closely monitoring the situation and remain very interested, while the Baltimore Ravens are also a team to watch. GMs believe the Las Vegas Raiders are willing to work on a deal.”
So, the only good bit of news out of her report is that she doesn’t mention the Chicago Bears as a suitor, because it would be heartbreaking to see Crosby over there. She also didn’t mention the Eagles, who are heavily expected to be in talks for Crosby.
Las Vegas Raiders Willing to Finally Trade Maxx Crosby, Report States
On Wednesday, March 4, Michael Silver of The Athletic published a feature about Crosby stating that the player is “ready to leave Las Vegas.”
“With Las Vegas staring at a significant rebuild, and set to draft quarterback Fernando Mendoza with that first overall pick, it would be foolish not to look to the future,” he notes in the piece. “Crosby, who’ll turn 29 next summer, deserves to play for a contender. The Raiders, who have few valuable assets, can flip Crosby for draft capital that could theoretically pay future dividends.”
He also says that “a deal is attainable by the official start of free agency next week.”
On the downside, his report also stated that Crosby is difficult to work with on the field. “As Crosby blossomed into one of the league’s best players,” Silver wrote, “[Jon] Gruden’s full-time successors in Las Vegas — Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce and Pete Carroll — found themselves powerless to contain him.”
