The Maxx Crosby era with the Las Vegas Raiders could be coming to an end this weekend, at least that’s what one Dallas Cowboys insider wants to believe, considering the pattern of big-time trades that have occurred leading into the NFL’s legal tampering period.

Crosby’s name has been all over the speculation mill since the start of the Raiders’ offseason. Now, it appears that a trade could be coming, but the question is, does any interested team want to pull the trigger on a potential deal for the veteran pass rusher?

Cowboys reporter for 105.3 The FAN, Bobby Belt, believes this weekend could be the time Crosby gets moved, citing past examples of teams moving on from marquee players hours before the tampering period opens.

“How quickly this could happen with Crosby? I was just looking over league history because when we’re talking about timelines, we’re going, all right, the tampering window opens Monday. And so that’s when teams start committing resources,” Belt said on March 6.

“In 2025, last offseason, DK Metcalf is traded about 24 hours before the tampering window opens. That was probably the biggest trade of the offseason, off the top of my head. I think it was the biggest trade of last offseason. In 2024, we’re inside of 12 hours of the tampering window opening and Brian Burns gets traded. That was one of the bigger trades we had last offseason. Again, inside of 12 hours of the tampering window opening in 2023, that’s when Jalen Ramsey got traded.”

Raiders Could Be Holding Out Until the Last Minute

Belt also notes that teams looking to trade a player try to hold out until the very last minute before deciding on the best offer.

“This weekend is usually the time where whatever the biggest trade of the offseason is going to be, whatever is the biggest move that has the biggest capital that people are just trying to milk as long as they can, between now and the Monday tampering window opening, that’s when these deals pull off,” Belt added. “So history tells us Maxx Crosby is likely to be traded by Monday.”

Latest on Cowboys Interest in Maxx Crosby

Crosby’s name isbeing linked to several teams in the speculation mill, including Dallas. After missing the playoffs last season, the Cowboys are looking to avoid that in 2026, and one way to do so is by finding a replacement for Micah Parsons.

The Raiders star would be one player more than capable of replacing Parsons’ production, and ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared the latest regarding where Dallas stands in this Crosby saga.

“They’re making a lot of noise, rattling a lot of sabers,”Schefter said during a March 5 appearance on Mad Dog Sports Radio. “And look, they’re one of the teams that I think will be exploring a Maxx Crosby trade. Whether they can get it done or not is a different question. We’ll see. Obviously, Jerry knows the window, and he’d like to get something done.

“They move on from Micah. That would be a heck of a way to replace Micah Parsons, by going out and finding a way to deal for Maxx Crosby. I do think they’ll be active. I do think that they’ll be into a lot of different upgrades, and we’ll see what they can get done here in the next week or so.”
