Nikola Vucevic injury update: Celtics center to miss time

Boston Celtics center Nikola Vucevic is expected to miss about a month after fracturing his ring finger during the first half of the game against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Boston Celtics will be without veteran center Nikola Vucevic for several weeks after he suffered a hand injury during Friday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Vucevic left the game in the first half and headed to the locker room after hurting his hand.

The Celtics later confirmed that the big man fractured his ring finger, ruling him out for the rest of the contest.

According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, the experienced center will undergo a medical procedure and is expected to miss around a month.

Despite losing Vucevic early, Boston still delivered a strong performance and defeated Dallas 120-100.

The Celtics initially struggled from the field, but the offense found its rhythm as Jayson Tatum scored his first points after returning from an Achilles injury. Tatum, playing in his season debut, helped stabilize the offense alongside Jaylen Brown and Derrick White.

Boston finished the night with six players scoring in double figures. Tatum posted 15 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, shooting 6 of 16 from the field and 3 of 8 from three-point range.

Brown led the team with 24 points and seven rebounds, while White added 20 points and four assists. Pritchard also made a strong contribution off the bench with 18 points and seven rebounds.

With the victory, the Celtics improved to 42-21, holding second place in the Eastern Conference standings.
