Jayson Tatum dominates in first game back from Achilles injury

Jayson Tatum made an impressive return for the Boston Celtics less than 300 days after tearing his Achilles. The star forward recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists in 27 minutes, helping Boston secure a 120-100 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

The Boston Celtics welcomed back Jayson Tatum on Friday night, and the star forward wasted no time making an impact.

Less than 300 days after tearing his right Achilles tendon during last year's playoffs, Tatum returned to the floor and delivered an impressive performance in Boston's 120-100 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

In just 27 minutes, Tatum finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, nearly recording a triple-double while posting a plus-20 in his season debut.

The crowd inside TD Garden erupted when Tatum scored his first basket of the night. The forward threw down a put-back dunk late in the first half, before knocking down a corner three-pointer on the next possession, instantly energizing the arena.

"It was surreal," Tatum said of his first game back per ESPN. "It was an emotional day. It's been a long journey. Many days I dreamed about this. And for it to finally happen, to share it with my family, my teammates, the crowd, it was everything I could've dreamed of. I still got a long way to go. But this is a huge step."
