Report: What Chelsea have 'pitched' to Geovany Quenda about next season

Jamie Gittens’ future at Chelsea may get a little tougher after Chelsea’s pitch to Geovany Quenda will see them fighting for a position next season.

It hasn’t been an easy ride for Jamie Gittens since he signed for Chelsea in the summer. His £51.5 million fee hasn’t helped the pressure on his shoulders, and the injuries only add to it.

Under both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior, Gittens has provided glimpses of world-class potential, most notably during his match-winning performance against Manchester City.

However, his progress has been consistently derailed by a recurring hamstring curse that has limited his availability during Chelsea’s most congested fixtures.

And now it seems as if his place could be under even more threat by Geovany Quenda for next season.

Chelsea have told Geovany Quenda he’ll be a left winger next season

Speaking on a live space with @AlexGoldbergCFC on Twitch, Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea have already promised Quenda a place on the left-hand side next season.

“I don’t think an out and out left winger is on their radar because they pitched to Quenda to be a left wing.”

Chelsea already have Alejandro Garnacho on that side, as well as Pedro Neto who has played there on numerous occasions, so they’ll be well stocked for next season.

Quenda has been recovering from his recent injury at Cobham, so he’s already well in the plans at Chelsea despite not joining until the summer.

Geovany Quenda’s arrival is bad news for Jamie Gittens

The news that Geovany Quenda is being prepared to operate as a left winger under Liam Rosenior presents a direct and significant threat to Jamie Gittens’ long-term security at Chelsea.

Despite proving effective when fit, Gittens’ persistent hamstring issues have raised reliability concerns, leaving the durable and versatile Quenda perfectly positioned to fill the role.

Quenda’s ability to track back and defend with an intensity that Gittens sometimes lacks aligns more closely with Rosenior’s vision for a balanced, high-pressing transition system.

Considering he’s going to be up against potentially three other players for a spot, this could be a season-defining few months for Gittens.
