Arsenal are in the picture to bring Red Star Belgrade’s Vasilije Kostov to the Premier League.
That’s according to Mozzart Sport, who cover Arsenal when reporting Marseille’s attempt to sign the 17-year-old.
Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy explaining the Gunners’ interest in the attacking midfielder.
The same report stated Mikel Arteta’s side had submitted a €20m bid. The Serbian club, on the other hand, had turned down Arsenal’s offer and requested €30m for the youngster.
Mozzart Sport relays that and then provides their own information on the north London club, Inter Milan and the Ligue 1 side.
No knowledge of Arsenal offer
There seems to be ‘great interest’ from both the Serie A club and Arsenal in securing the Serbia international’s services.
The outlet points out about the €20m bid from the English club and report that ‘there is no confirmation of this’. In other words, Red Star Belgrade and/or the player’s agent are unaware of any proposal from Arsenal.
However, Marseille have come forward to make an offer for the young star. According to the report, a representative from the French club recently arrived in Belgrade to submit a ‘competitive offer’.
Marseille’s proposal includes €17m plus bonuses plus a percentage of a future sale, and Red Star Belgrade turned it down. That’s because the Serbian champions value Kostov at €25m, and it’s unclear whether the Ligue 1 side will return with an improved bid.
Gunners move may be too soon
Mozzat Sport advise the teenager to join a team where he can continue his development. There’s belief it may not be possible at Arsenal, Inter Milan or Marseille despite their keen interest.
Kostov will turn 18 years of age in May, making him eligible to move to the UK in the summer. If Arsenal were to sign him, he could start with their reserve team or go out on loan.
The Serbian’s chances of being part of Arteta’s squad immediately looks slim. Therefore, the move to the Emirates may be too soon for him this year.
Kostov graduated from Red Star Belgrade’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2025. He has been a regular this season, playing 2,160 minutes from 33 matches in all competitions, managing 12 goals and six assists.
