Chelsea are being linked with a move for a former Premier League star ahead of the summer.
Chelsea are said to be interested in signing a Premier League flop this summer. The Blues are likely to strengthen ahead of next season, and it’s likely they will need to adapt their recruitment strategy of signing young.
The Blues are going to have to sign a couple of polished players if they want to make the step to being title contenders, and it finally feels as though the club know it.
Signing young talents has worked, to the credit of the Chelsea board, but more experience is needed. Liam Rosenior will have discussed that before taking the job, and it’s likely he will have a little more say than Enzo Maresca had.
Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea will be in the market for a new attacker, and perhaps two if they don’t value Liam Delap or the returning Nicolas Jackson.
One player Chelsea have been linked with of late is former Liverpool star Darwin Nunez, who never managed to stay consistent in the Premier League. Nunez clearly had talent, but his £65million fee saw him go down as a flop for not living up to the expectations of that fee.
Still only 26 years of age, Nunez is still not at his peak, and he could be on the move this summer when he is likely to leave Al-Hilal.
The Premier League is a likely destination, according to CaughtOffside, and Chelsea could be an option.
“Premier League clubs are lining up for Nunez, there’s a very concrete possibility of him leaving Al Hilal for a return to Europe this summer,” the report read. “Chelsea have liked Nunez for a while and still see him as someone to add spark and depth up front.”
Al-Hilal paid a reported £46million for Nunez, and it’s likely they will want to make that money back to agree a sale.
