Chelsea star Andrey Santos shares what is'similar'about Casemiro and Moises Caicedo

Andrey Santos has compared his Chelsea partnership with Moises Caicedo to playing alongside Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, claiming both possess a ‘similar style’.

Chelsea‘s rise under Liam Rosenior has been significantly helped by Andrey Santos‘ performances, who has become a regular in midfield.

Santos has the fourth-highest success rate of line-breaking passes in the Premier League this season, which is even more than Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

With his sights set on a World Cup place, the next few months are crucial for Santos at Chelsea, but he’s already provided the platform to be picked by Carlo Ancelotti.

And recently, he’s been speaking about his international teammate Casemiro and how he compares to Chelsea teammate Moises Caicedo.

Andrey Santos loves playing with Casemiro and Moises Caicedo

Speaking to FIFA, Andrey Santos gave credit to Man United midfielder Casemiro and Caicedo, claiming they both make it so easy to play.

“I have played in more than one position in midfield at Chelsea. Casemiro plays in a role equal to that of Moises Caicedo, with whom I have played several times.

“And they’re even similar in style of play. It’s two players that make it easy for you to play.”

Interestingly, Man United are interested in signing Santos, but they’ll have to keep their hands off as the stance is he’s not for sale.

Andrey Santos shares his transformation over the last few years

After Santos’ rise at Strasbourg, the development and progress has been more than anyone would have expected, and he’s putting that down to his adaptability.

“I am more complete now. I learned to behave better tactically, to know when to press, to cover the spaces better, to position myself better on the field.

“The technique will always be with you, but you evolve in all aspects: tactical, physical and technical. The Andrey of 2023 is different from the Andrey of 2026.”
