Chelsea are expected to reignite their interest in Palmeiras forward Vitor Roque this summer, according to reports.

BolaVIP claim that the Blues originally tabled a R$322m (£46m) bid “about two months ago”, but the proposal was deemed too low at the time.

However, it appears that a new offer has been “prepared” for Roque ahead of the next transfer window.

The Brazilian international has started the new campaign in decent form for Palmeiras, having scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist in 13 appearances. The Brazilian season starts in January, rather than August.

Roque has already played in Europe

The forward is still only 21 years of age, but he has made one high-profile transfer in his career already, having been snapped up by Barcelona for €30m (£26m) just over two years ago.

However, Roque struggled during his time in Spain, scoring 2 goals in 16 appearances for the Catalan giants. He was also loaned out to Real Betis last season, but his time in Seville was cut short in order to return to Brazil, joining Palmeiras in late February 2025.

Chelsea may be looking to replace Delap

It is fair to say that Liam Delap’s first season at Stamford Bridge has not gone to plan. Form and fitness problems have meant the 23-year-old has scored just 2 goals since his £30m switch from Ipswich Town.

Joao Pedro is firmly ahead of him for starts, and there are questions over whether Delap will remain with the Blues beyond the summer. Buy a Joao Pedro Chelsea shirt from Subside Sports here.

If the interest in Roque is genuine, it does suggest the club are already looking at potential replacements for Delap. Although Chelsea have made some odd decisions in the transfer market, they would not pay in excess of £50m for a player who would be behind both Pedro and Delap in the pecking order.
