Liam Rosenior says Chelsea have a'scary'16-year-old impressing in training

Liam Rosenior has admitted he finds the talent of 16-year-old Reggie Watson ‘scary’ after the academy sensation made a massive impact during several first-team training sessions at Cobham.

Reggie Watson is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting prospects within the Chelsea academy.

At just 16 years old, Watson has already made the jump into first-team training sessions at Cobham. A regular for the England U16s and a key figure for Chelsea’s U18 side, Watson is noted for his poise, vision, and physical presence in the engine room, traits that have seen him fast-tracked.

The son of former Premier League midfielder Ben Watson, Reggie appears to have inherited a natural intelligence that allows him to dictate games from deep.

While teammates like Jesse Derry and Ryan Kavuma-McQueen have secured recent squad call-ups, Watson’s consistency in training suggests his senior debut is a matter of when, not if.

Liam Rosenior impressed by Reggie Watson’s impact

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup clash with Wrexham, Liam Rosenior shared just how well Reggie Watson has done in his few appearances in Chelsea’s first team training (as per The Sun).

“Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and Jesse Derry will travel with the group. So they’ll be part of the squad for Wrexham.

“Reggie Watson has trained with us a few times and really impressed me.

“It’s scary given his age. Young Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli has been up a few times. He’s an outstanding talent as well.”

Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli has already gained the approval of Cole Palmer, describing him as a ‘baller’ when he was just starting to make a name for himself around Cobham.
