Celtics center Nikola Vucevic on Saturday underwent surgery to stabilize a fracture in his right ring finger, the team announced. Vucevic is expected to be reevaluated in 3-4 weeks.

The 35-year-old big man suffered the injury on a post-up with just under five minutes left in the first quarter of Boston’s 120-100 win over the Mavericks at TD Garden on Friday. He left the game moments later and did not return.

The Celtics traded guard Anfernee Simons to the Bulls for Vucevic last month. In 12 games with the Celtics, Vucevic is averaging 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 44.5 percent from the field.

While Vucevic is out, Luka Garza will reclaim his role as Boston’s second-string center behind Neemias Queta. Garza had 10 points and 3 rebounds filling in for Vucevic on Friday.
