Ryan Gravenberch: New contract worth €100m, Reds top earners reshaped

Ryan Gravenberch’s new Liverpool contract is worth over €100m and came after weeks long negotiations with his agent José Fortes Rodriguez.

That’s according to journalist Mike Verweij and De Telegraaf. The Dutch pair report that Gravenberch’s new deal is a money spinner for the 23-year-old.

According to their information, the new contract, which Liverpool announced runs until 2032, is worth over €100m for the midfielder.

Liverpool finalised and announced the deal today after weeks of negotiations with Gravenberch’s agent, José Fortes Rodriguez. The talks ended positively, and he has extended his stay at Anfield by six years.

€90m transfer value

The deal represents a clear sign of faith from the Premier League champions in the midfielder. Gravenberch initially struggled under Jurgen Klopp before establishing himself as a key player under Arne Slot last season.

The Dutchman’s arrival at Anfield last season saw him transition from a rotation option to Liverpool’s first choice number six.

That’s seen a significant increase in his market value, with Transfermarkt recently valuing him at around €90m. That’s already double the €40m Liverpool paid to sign him from Bayern Munich in 2023.

The €100m figure likely refers to salary and potential bonus payments. But on wages alone, it would work out at around €16.6m a year.

Broken down, that’s around €320,000 per week. At current exchange rates, that would work out around £277,000 a week for Gravenberch.

Liverpool’s top earners

That would be a significant increase in his pay packet. Gravenberch was reported to be earning around £150,000 a week before this extension.

It would, also, put Gravenberch firmly among the top earners at Anfield. That’s currently topped by Mohamed Salah on around £400,000 a week.

Van Dijk and Alexander Isak reportedly follow that on £350,000 a week and £280,000 a week respectively. It would also make him the highest earning midfielder at the club, above the likes of summer signing Florian Wirtz.

If that is the case, and the €100m figure from Verweij and De Telegraaf suggests it is, then it’s a big sign of faith from Liverpool in the midfielder. He’ll now have to repay that on the pitch.
