Jeremy Jacquet is expecting a ‘long phase of rehabilitation’ after successfully undergoing surgery this week.
Jacquet suffered a serious shoulder injury less than a month after he agreed a £60m move to Anfield, which will see the centre-back make the move to England in the summer of 2026.
Initially, reports suggested that Liverpool expect Jacquet back for pre-season, but there has been a further claim this month that the centre-back may need four-six months of recovery, which could keep him out of action until August.

Jeremy Jacquet says he’s ready for long rehabilitation
A Ligue 1 doctor explained: “If it’s an instability (dislocation or equivalent), you have to expect about five months for a return to normal contact, duels, challenges, and falling without problems.
“Four months for those with a rapid rehabilitation plan and six months for those with a slower one.”
It remains to be seen when the Frenchman will actually be fit enough to start, with his latest injury update via Instagram providing little clarity.
Jacquet wrote: “As announced by the club, the operation went very well. A long phase of rehabilitation is about to begin, I will give it my all during this time to come back stronger!”

Depending on the return timeline, it may leave Liverpool short of options at centre-back going into 2026/27.
There has been a suggestion this season that Joe Gomez will leave the Merseyside outfit before the next campaign.
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate is due to become a free agent from July 1, which would see Virgil van Dijk as the only fit senior centre-back available, depending on how long it takes Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni to recover.
Leoni is impressing Liverpool, but the young stopper has not yet started running on grass, following the injury he picked up after his Reds debut in August 2025.
