Commanders predicted to sign Eagles free agent for $92 million

The Washington Commanders have a chance to swipe a key free agent from their divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles.

It'll just cost them $92 million to do it.

ESPN's Dan Graziano predicted in a new article on Friday that Jaelen Phillips will sign in free agency with Washington on a four-year, $92 million contract.

That'd be a big payday, but it could be worth it for the Commanders to improve their pass rush immensely while delivering a major blow to the Eagles.

Phillips hasn't even spent a full season with Philadelphia. He was a key midseason acquisition via trade from the Miami Dolphins in 2025.

Some analysts have predicted the Eagles to get Phillips back, so this would be a major outcome for Washington.

"Phillips comes with that injury history, but he played well for the Eagles after being traded to Philadelphia from Miami at the deadline -- and they have at least some interest in trying to keep him," Graziano writes. "Two of his five sacks last season came in Philly. He's a young free agent (still just 26), and that helps mitigate the injury risk a little. It's possible he does a one-year prove-it deal somewhere if his market doesn't do what he hopes it does. And it's also possible a division rival snatches him away."

The Commanders had a brutal 2025, with injuries and struggles, after a 2024 season that had been so promising.

They'll be looking to make moves this offseason that show their intent to take a major step back in the right direction.

Phillips would certainly qualify as such a pickup. And it'd make life a bit tougher for the Eagles in the process.
