The Los Angeles Rams are looking to go all-in for the 2026 season, in what might be Matthew Stafford's final year in the NFL.
With such an all-in plan, the Rams executed a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, adding All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie for four picks, including a 2026 first-rounder and a 2027 third-rounder.
But, even after that big trade pickup, ESPN's Sarah Bishop named cornerback as the Rams' biggest need this offseason. McDuffie is not enough, as the Rams need another cornerback or two to feel confident about the secondary in 2026.
Rams' biggest need is CB despite Trent McDuffie trade
"Biggest need: Cornerback," Bishop writes. "... but even after trading for McDuffie earlier in the week, the group is still the team's biggest need."
The reason why cornerback is still the Rams' biggest need this offseason is clear: Roger McCreary, Akhello Witherspoon, Decobie Durant, and Derion Kendrick are all hitting free agency. And Darious Williams is a cut candidate.
Overall, the Rams have a ton of roster spots to address in the secondary, and McDuffie is only just the beginning of their cornerback additions this offseason.
Fortunately, there are plenty of interesting draft prospects for the Rams to consider, whether it's in Round 1 or throughout the draft.
More: Nahshon Wright would be perfect free agent for Rams
In free agency, the Rams could turn to Jamel Dean, Taron Johnson, Josh Jobe, Tariq Woolen, Alontae Taylor, Nahshon Wright, Montaric Brown, or Jaylen Watson as a few options.
There are plenty of cornerbacks available this offseason, whether it's through free agency or the NFL Draft. But Sean McVay and Les Snead will be busy with the position this offseason.
The Rams need more than just McDuffie to feel confident about this cornerback room. The rest of the roster is in a good spot, but cornerback is a big question mark.
Their biggest need is still a cornerback, even after adding McDuffie in a blockbuster with the Chiefs. That just shows how dire the need for a cornerback was for the Rams this offseason, as such a great pickup still hasn't changed CB from being their top need.
