Liverpool are working hard behind the scenes to tie their key players to new deals.
Today it was confirmed that Ryan Gravenberch has signed a new long-term deal at the club, extending his stay with the Reds until at least the 2031/32 season.
Despite Liverpool’s up and down title defence, that has resulted in many inconsistent displays, for Ryan Gravenberch there remains the belief within the club that the 23-year-old is one of the most promising midfielders in Europe and that he is about to venture into the prime years of his career.
Negotiations moved quickly after the Dutch international revealed his desire to commit his long-term future with the Reds.
Drawn out contract sagas can often lead to on-field disruptions, so the club will be thankful that an agreement with Gravenberch was reached smoothly.
Paul Joyce, reporting for The Times, has delivered several contract updates on other Liverpool players following the confirmation of Ryan Gravenberch, with one Liverpool player seemingly up next.
According to the report: “Liverpool are also in discussions over a contract extension with Szoboszlai and there has been contact with Mac Allister’s father, Carlos, who also represents the Argentina World Cup winner.”
“The futures of Ibrahima Konaté and Andrew Robertson remain uncertain with both players out of contract at the end of the season, although their situations differ on account of their respective ages.”
“Liverpool still want to extend the deal of Konaté, who is 27 in May, but there appears to have been little progress of late over reaching an agreement.”
There was significant interest for Andrew Robertson in January from Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, but the player decided to remain at Liverpool.
A decision will have to be made this summer by the Scotsman to decide to spend another season being back-up to Milos Kerkez.
When it comes to Dominik Szoboszlai, who has been a stand-out performer for the Reds this season, the club are working hard to get that renewed deal over the line.
He appears to be the player up next and what a bit of business that would be.
