Cowboys Favored To Sign Trey Hendrickson After Missing Out On Max Crosby

The Dallas Cowboys lost the Maxx Crosby sweepstakes to the Baltimore Ravens, but they'll have another chance to acquire a Pro Bowl defensive end this offseason.

According to NFL Network's Jane Slater, the Cowboys didn't want to offer two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby. The Ravens, however, had no issue parting ways with their 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.

Before the Raiders agreed to send Crosby to the Ravens, former ESPN personality Trey Wingo reported that Dallas could shift its focus over to Trey Hendrickson.

"Things are moving fast re Maxx Crosby," Wingo said. "Last night Dallas thought they were close to a deal but since then other teams have raised the ante and potentially are offering the Raiders 2 1st round picks. Expect Dallas to now shift their focus to Trey Hendrickson."

Hendrickson has been tremendous for the Cincinnati Bengals over the past five seasons, racking up 171 tackles, 120 QB hits, 61 sacks and 12 forced fumbles. The Bengals opted against using the franchise tag on Hendrickson this week, which led to him posting a farewell message on social media.

"To the organization: Thank you for the opportunity to play the game I love at the highest level. The last five years have been filled with great wins and tough losses. Personal achievements and humbling adversities," Hendrickson wrote. "I was and always will be proud to have worn the Cincinnati Bengals logo and honor the history behind it."

As of now, the Cowboys are considered the favorites to sign Hendrickson this offseason.

The Cowboys will have competition for Hendrickson.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter recently mentioned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a potential suitor for Hendrickson.

"Tampa would be a great fit," Schefter said. "I think, in a perfect world, Trey would like to stay in Florida. No state income tax. But he's also open to going to the best possible situation."

The Buccaneers have a clear need for a pass rusher, so we'd be surprised if they don't pursue Hendrickson. Will they be willing to outbid the Cowboys though? Only time will tell.

The NFL's legal tampering window will open up this Monday at 12 p.m. ET.
