Chelsea are reportedly considering a summer move for West Ham defender El Hadji Malick Diouf.
The 21-year-old has impressed since arriving at the London Stadium and quickly established himself as one of the club’s most reliable performers.
According to The Hard Tackle, His displays have now caught the attention of Chelsea, who are said to be exploring the possibility of bringing him to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are keen to strengthen their defensive options and see Diouf as someone who could compete with Marc Cucurella on the left side of defence. Adding greater depth and competition in that position is believed to be part of Chelsea’s plans as they continue building a squad capable of challenging for major honours.
Whether that interest develops into a formal offer remains to be seen. However, West Ham would be reluctant to part with a player who has become such a key figure in the team. Diouf has even been described as “absolutely fantastic” by pundit Jamie Carragher, highlighting the impact he has made.
The Senegalese defender is currently valued at around £24 million, a fee that could tempt suitors but would still represent a significant loss for the Hammers.
West Ham Survival Could Decide Diouf’s Future
Much could depend on how West Ham’s season ends.
If the Hammers manage to secure their Premier League status, the club will likely push hard to keep hold of one of their brightest performers. Diouf has become a key part of the side and would be central to any plans to rebuild and push up the table next season.
However, relegation would make the situation far more complicated. Dropping into the Championship could force the club to consider offers for some of their most valuable assets, and interest from a team like Chelsea would be difficult to ignore.
For now, though, West Ham’s focus remains on survival — and Diouf could still have a major role to play in ensuring they stay in the Premier League.
