Source: Penn State hiring former Denver Nuggets GM Calvin Booth as consultant

Penn State men’s basketball is bringing in a familiar face to help out with roster management.

Former Denver Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth is being hired in a consulting role, a source told the Centre Daily Times. Booth played for the Nittany Lions from 1995-1999 and was drafted in the second round at No. 35 overall in the 1999 NBA Draft. He played in NBA from 1999-2009.

No announcement has yet been made official, and the position’s full responsibilities are not yet fully known.

After playing in the NBA, Booth went on to the front office side of things, working as a scout for the New Orleans Pelicans and moving through the ranks before becoming the general manager of the Nuggets in 2020. He helped construct the team that won the 2023 NBA title before not having his contract extended following the 2024-2025 season.

Booth is Penn State’s all-time leader in blocks, and his four seasons all rank within the school’s top four in terms of single-season blocks. He’s also the only Nittany Lion to get 10 blocks in a game, doing so twice, including once as part of a triple-double that included 19 points and 10 rebounds.
