Heading into a matchup against the Golden State Warriors, the Oklahoma City Thunder are going to miss a critical player. Chet Holmgren has been ruled out for the game on Saturday, March 7.

According to the Thunder’s official injury report, Holmgren is dealing with an illness.

The Thunder are heading into the game looking to build on their current winning streak, which extended to four games, after an impressive road matchup at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks.

Holmgren checked into that matchup for 32 minutes. The veteran center shot 11-19 from the field, knocking down six shots from beyond the arc. The Thunder star accounted for 28 points, while coming down with eight rebounds, and passing out two assists.

The Thunder defeated the Knicks 103-100.

After dealing with injury concerns in two out of his first three NBA seasons, Holmgren has remained relatively healthy this season.

Heading into Saturday’s action, Holmgren has 56 games under his belt. With just eight absences, Holmgren missed consecutive games on only two occasions.

This season, Holmgren picked up his first All-Star nod. The big man is averaging 17.3 points, while shooting 55% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc. He is coming down with 9.0 rebounds, dishing out 1.8 assists, and blocking 1.9 shots per game.

Against the Warriors, the Thunder are hunting for their 50th win of the year. Currently, Oklahoma City is leading the Western Conference, holding a 2.5-game advantage over the thriving San Antonio Spurs.

The Thunder are hosting a 32-30 Warriors team, which is eighth in the conference and potentially Play-In-bound this season. Golden State has won just four of its last 10 games.

The two teams are slated for an 8:30 PM ET tip.
