Breaking: Wrexham suffer FA Cup heartache as double VAR whammy costs them in Chelsea loss

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney watched on as Wrexham’s FA Cup dreams came to an end after they were beaten by Chelsea in extra-time at the Racecourse Ground.

On a dramatic night in North Wales, Phil Parkinson’s side were the victim of two tight VAR calls as Chelsea twice came from behind to avoid an [FA Cup](https://www.walesonline.co.uk/all-about/fa-cup) shock.

But Wrexham got off to the dream start when they took the lead at a raucous Stok Cae Ras through Sam Smith.

A fortuitous own goal allowed the sluggish Londoners to equalise, but the Red Dragons’ hopes were rekindled with an improvised finish from Callum Doyle 12 minutes from time.

But just like they did in the first-half, Liam Rosenior’s side came back again, as Josh Acheampong levelled four minutes after Doyle’s goal.
