Packers acquire former Pro Bowl LB Zaire Franklin from Colts

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Packers have added a former Pro Bowl linebacker to their defense in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Packers have traded DT Colby Wooden to the Colts in exchange for LB Zaire Franklin.

Zaire Franklin, a 2018 7th-round pick out of Syracuse, was a Pro Bowler in 2024, recording two interceptions, forcing four fumbles, and 173 tackles. His 2025 saw him force only one fumble and record nearly 50 fewer tackles. He has an $8.255 million cap hit in 2026 and a $10.255 million hit in 2027 and will be a UFA in 2028.

Wooden was taken in the 4th round of the 2023 draft and has appeared in 47 games for the Packers since then. He recorded 50 tackles in 2025. Wooden has a cap hit of $1.336 million in 2026 and will be a UFA in 2027.
