Newcastle United 1-1 Manchester City player ratings: Here’s how William Osula, Nick Woltemade, Sven Botman and co fared at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United are drawing 1-1 with Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round at St James’ Park on Saturday evening - here are the half-time player ratings from the match.

Eddie Howe made four changes from the side that beat Manchester United in the Premier League ahead of the game with William Osula, Nick Woltemade, Sven Botman and Joe Willock coming into the side in place of Anthony Gordon, Joelinton, Dan Burn and the suspended Jacob Ramsey.

Manchester City have reached the FA Cup final in each of the previous three seasons and at least the semi-final every year since 2019. The last team to beat Manchester City before the semi-final stage in the FA Cup was Wigan Athletic in 2018.

But Newcastle got off to a strong start with Harvey Barnes giving them the lead inside the opening 20 minutes with a fine finish into the top right corner.

Man City drew level in the build-up to half-time as Savinho turned in Jeremy Doku’s low cross from close range as the sides went in at 1-1.

Aaron Ramsdale - 6

Stood up to deny Savinho from a tight angle. Tried to keep out Savinho’s goal but it had already crossed the line. Was let off after a failed clearance at the end of the first half.

Kieran Trippier - 7

Picked up where he left off against Manchester United with a composed right-back display. Couldn’t quite stop the cross for Man City’s equaliser.

Malick Thiaw - 6

A late challenge in the opening minutes saw Man City’s appeals for a penalty waved away.

Sven Botman - 6

Won several headers and played a lovely ball across field to release Kieran Trippier but misplaced a couple of more simple passes to put his side under pressure.

Lewis Hall - 7

Defended well up against the trickery of Savinho. Made a number of top class contributions to win the ball back. Was unable to clear the cross under pressure for Man City’s equaliser.

Sandro Tonali - 7

Made some good early challenges. Assisted Barnes’ opener with a well-weighted through ball.

Joe Willock - 6

Made a crucial challenge to clear the danger after Aaron Ramsdale conceded possession in a dangerous area.

Anthony Elanga - 5

Forced a simple save from James Trafford in the opening 10 minutes. Squandered a great chance to counter with some poor decision making.

Harvey Barnes - 7

Timed his run to perfection and applied a devastating finish to give Newcastle the lead. An attacking threat but struggled defensively when Man City pushed bodies forward.

Nick Woltemade - 5

Dispossessed in his own half early on which led to a Manchester City opportunity. Head a header cleared before it could cross the line. A shaky return after illness.

Showed a good turn of pace to break clear on goal but couldn’t get a shot away.
