Liam Rosenior has just taken his post match press conference after Chelsea beat Wrexham in the FA Cup, and he was asked to give some praise to Alejandro Garnacho, who scored and also forced an own goal in the 4-2 win.
“I feel he’s in a good place. Ale is in a great place. His goals, his energy levels for 120 minutes were magnificent, considering he played a full 90 on Wednesday,” Rosenior said.
“He’s in a really good place, and it’s really, really good to see his form at this really important stage of the season.”
After an assist in a game where he deserved a goal against Aston Villa, today a goal and effectively an assist.
Garnacho could lose starting place despite good form
It’s all very fair, but his mention of the minutes Garnacho has played does make us doubt he will be starting against PSG. After not playing much at all he’s just done 90 and then 120 minutes in a week.
Surely we’re going to see an attacking line of Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer supporting Joao Pedro on Wednesday night, despite Garnacho’s good form.
The Argentine can still be a great option off the bench, and will definitely be in line for a start at the weekend against Newcastle. But despite two good games, he’s got to do more to break into the first choice attacking line up.
In other news…
Rosenior also spoke about Romeo Lavia, who made a return to play in midfield in tonight’s game.
