Even Jaylen Brown admits he can't compare himself to Victor Wembanyama

The San Antonio Spurs have proven themselves as a legitimate title threat this season and many players and fans around the league are beginning to take note.

So much so, that former Finals MVP Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics recently recanted one his statements.

Throughout the season, Brown hasn't shied away from claiming himself as the best two-way player in the league, highlighting his offensive skill (averaging 28.8 points per game) and his defensive work rate.

That said, even Brown was against putting himself in the same conversation as Victor Wembanyama, changing tune from earlier in the year.

Brown said: “That boy Wemby is a problem, a big problem. When I say I’m the best two-way player in the league, it’s not counting Wemby. He’s not even human. I’m the best human player.”

With nicknames like "Alien" or "Extraterrestrial", it's not the first time Wembanyama's play has been considered "not human".

That said, human or not, his performances this season and throughout his career cannot be denied.

Wembanyama is averaging 23.8 points this season and is averaging three or more blocks for the third consecutive season to begin his career.

Wembanyama has already passed three-time MVP Nikola Jokic in career blocks despite playing in over 600 fewer games, a stat that displays his tremendous defensive prowess.

The Spurs will have Saturday off before facing their in-state rivals, the Houston Rockets Sunday.

After that, Wembanyama and San Antonio will host Jaylen Brown and the Celtics Tuesday. When the two sides met earlier this year, the Spurs squeaked by with a five-point win.
