Micky van de Ven availability alerted to Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur are 16th in the table and just one point above the relegation zone.

Liverpool’s season under Arne Slot has turned into a strange rollercoaster.

The Reds sit sixth in the Premier League table and trail leaders Arsenal by 19 points.

Results in 2026 have been particularly frustrating.

The low point came with an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on March 3.

However, Liverpool responded well in the FA Cup. A 3-1 win over Wolves on March 6 brought some relief.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Curtis Jones secured progress. Seventeen-year-old Rio Ngumoha also impressed.

Still, the season remains uncertain.

Captain Virgil van Dijk recently admitted the team had looked “slow and predictable.”

One major issue is the future of Ibrahima Konate.

His contract expires on June 30, 2026. Since January, he has been free to sign a pre-contract with clubs abroad.

Reports claim Real Madrid now view him as their number one target to replace Antonio Rudiger.

Some sources even say Konate has “mentally closed the book” on his Liverpool career.

Liverpool have made what they describe as their “most lucrative” offer to convince him to stay.

The club want a final answer before Easter.

At the same time, they have already signed Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes to join the club in the summer.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s problems are even worse.

Tottenham Hotspur are 16th in the table and just one point above the relegation zone.

Spurs are on an 11-game winless run in the league.

They have also lost their last five matches, including a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.

Manager Igor Tudor has lost all three league games since replacing Thomas Frank.

Spurs have also recorded zero domestic wins in 2026.

The situation at Spurs has now created a new talking point for Liverpool supporters.

Much of it centres on Micky van de Ven.

Van de Ven remains one of Tottenham’s most important players.

Yet his future is now uncertain.

His contract currently runs until June 30, 2029.

However, reports confirm he rejected Tottenham’s opening proposal for a new five-year extension earlier this week.

According to The Daily Mail, “Rumours have been building that he will look to leave this summer as Manchester United and Liverpool have been alerted.”

“Undoubted talent but has shown signs of frailty with his decision making.”

“Talks over a new contract are on hold as reality kicks in.”

“Tottenham would demand a huge fee but the Netherlands centre back is set for the exit.”

Several clubs are now monitoring the situation.

Barcelona and Manchester United are reportedly among the sides watching developments. Liverpool are also strongly linked.

Van de Ven is widely viewed as the natural long-term successor to Van Dijk.

That possibility becomes more relevant if Konate leaves.

Spurs still hope to keep him.

The club have placed a £100 million valuation on the defender.

But recent events have not helped their cause. Van de Ven was sent off for the first time in his Tottenham career during the defeat to Palace.

He is now suspended for the key league meeting with Liverpool on March 15.

For Liverpool, the timing is interesting.

The club could soon face a major decision in defence.

If Konate departs, Van de Ven’s availability may quickly move from rumour to serious consideration.
