The Golden State Warriors will again be without both Curry brothers when they visit the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night.

The team officially ruled Seth Curry out with sciatic nerve irritation after he had initially been listed as questionable. Meanwhile, Warriors superstar Stephen Curry remains sidelined with right patellofemoral pain syndrome and a bone bruise in his right knee, commonly referred to as “runner’s knee.”

The injuries leave Golden State without two of its most reliable perimeter shooters as it continues its push for playoff positioning in the Western Conference.

Stephen Curry Injury Update Clouds Warriors Playoff Push

Stephen Curry has now missed 12 consecutive games, raising questions about when — or if — the two-time MVP will return this season.

Golden State announced on March 2 that Curry had made progress in his recovery but would be re-evaluated in 10 days, effectively ruling him out for Saturday’s matchup against Oklahoma City.

During Curry’s absence, the Warriors have gone 5–7, sliding deeper into the play-in race with a 32–30 record.

The uncertainty surrounding Curry’s recovery has sparked debate among analysts.

Speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast, sports media figure Bill Simmons openly questioned whether Golden State should consider shutting Curry down for the rest of the season.

Simmons asked co-host Joe House whether the Warriors should “punt” on the year and simply tell Curry not to return.

He also noted that when teams shift from a clear timetable to language such as “at least another 10 days,” he often assumes the player may not return soon.

While the comments were opinion rather than reporting, they underscore the uncertainty surrounding Curry’s status and Golden State’s postseason hopes.

Seth Curry’s Injury Continues Frustrating Season

While Stephen Curry’s injury has dominated headlines, Seth Curry’s season has also been disrupted by health issues.

The veteran guard has appeared in just two games since rejoining the Warriors in December.

Seth Curry originally signed with Golden State during training camp but was waived before the regular season due to salary-cap constraints. The Warriors later brought him back in December to bolster their shooting depth.

However, the sciatic nerve irritation that flared shortly after his return has kept the 35-year-old sidelined for more than three months.

Curry last appeared on Dec. 4 in a 99–98 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, when he went scoreless.

Two nights earlier, he had scored 14 points against the Thunder, offering a glimpse of how his shooting could help stabilize Golden State’s second unit.

With free agency approaching this summer, Seth Curry still has much to prove if he hopes to secure a larger role moving forward.

Warriors Young Players Stepping Up Without Stephen Curry

Despite the injuries, the Warriors have discovered promising contributions from several younger players.

Brazilian forward Gui Santos has emerged as a bright spot during Curry’s absence.

Santos has averaged 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game since the Warriors’ star guard went down, earning a three-year contract extension with the team.

Another rising contributor has been guard Brandin Podziemski, who has taken on a larger offensive role in the backcourt.

Over his last six games, Podziemski has averaged 18.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists, helping stabilize the Warriors’ offense without their superstar playmaker.

Warriors Face Tough Road Test vs Thunder

Golden State’s next challenge comes against one of the NBA’s toughest opponents.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, the defending champions, remain one of the league’s elite teams and present a difficult road test for the undermanned Warriors.

Without Stephen Curry’s scoring gravity or Seth Curry’s perimeter shooting, Golden State will need strong performances from its young core and supporting cast.

The Warriors still hope Stephen Curry’s rehabilitation will eventually lead to a return later this season.

Until then, Golden State must continue navigating the Western Conference playoff race without the face of the franchise and without his sharpshooting older brother as well.
