Breaking: Los Angeles Chargers Re-Sign 9x Pro Bowler Ahead of 2026 Free Agency

The Los Angeles Chargers are looking to take that next step as a team after losing in the AFC Wild Card Round last season. The team has a few holes and some key players set to hit free agency next week. However, not all of them are going to be leaving the team. Let’s take a closer look at who is staying with the Los Angeles Chargers with a new contract.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that edge rusher Khalil Mack will be returning to the Los Angeles Chargers for his 13th NFL season after the two sides have agreed to a new contract. The contract details, reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, have him receiving $18 million fully guaranteed on a one-year contract. This gives the Chargers someone who can get to the quarterback without taking a significant amount of salary cap space. With Odafe Oweh still expected to hit free agency, the team has at least one of its pass-rushers signed.

Mack is a nine-time Pro Bowler, most recently in 2024. Last season, he would appear in 12 games and record 32 total tackles (19 solo, 13 assisted) with 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and 11 quarterback hits. Now, the team has to address some other areas of weakness in one of the toughest divisions in the sport, and a veteran pass-rusher is officially off the board.

The team is now likely to go after some offensive help with some key free agents available. Prior to this signing, the Chargers ranked second in cap space for the upcoming season, only trailing the Las Vegas Raiders. It will be intriguing to see who the team decides to go after making this move.
