Maxx Crosby has broken his silence hours after he was traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens in a blockbuster deal late Friday night.
The seven-year veteran has spent his entire career with Las Vegas, during which he battled through a number of injuries to become one of the NFL’s most fearsome pass rushers. And on Saturday, he thanked those who supported him along his journey while also revealing his primary goal with his new team.
“It’s been seven years, being with the nation, Raider Nation has given me everything,” said Crosby in a video he posted to his X account. “My family, I’ve had a chance to get married, had the most beautiful daughter in the world. Grow as a man, as a player, as a leader, as a human being.”
He added, “One thing I can say, above all else, is that I gave ya’ll everything I got and I have no regrets about that. I put everything into trying to win as a Raider.”
Crosby then halted his statement as he felt emotions brewing inside of him. It’s been a long road for the five-time Pro Bowler with the team that drafted him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. During his career with the Raiders, he recorded 439 tackles, 69.5 sacks, 133 tackles for loss and 164 quarterback hits.
He played in just one playoff game over his seven seasons in Las Vegas.
“It’s tough, man,” he continued. “It’s been a damn journey, since the day I got drafted, I’ll never forget. That 510 number coming and hitting my phone when I was in Texas at my draft party, not knowing where that was. Getting a call from Jon Gruden, giving me an opportunity of a lifetime to be able to be a Raider, and it felt perfect.”
Crosby was sent to the Ravens in exchange for two first-round picks, which was the first time in the Ravens’ franchise history that they used a first-round pick to trade for a veteran player. He will be expected to step in and solve Baltimore’s pass rush, which finished fourth-worst with 30 sacks a season ago.
Crosby is coming off a 10-sack season that ended early due to a nagging knee injury. As his career with the Raiders comes to an end, he expressed disappointment before officially moving to his new team.
“I feel like I left everything I had on the table for this team,” said Crosby. “I’ve given my heart and soul, and I feel like I let ya’ll down, man. Ever since Day 1, I’ve wanted to create and build a winner with the Raiders.”
Despite his regrets, he now has a chance to help build a Super Bowl team with the Ravens, who missed the playoffs a season ago following an 8-9 campaign.
“It’s a new day,” said Crosby. “I’m going to Baltimore - Flock Nation. Everybody, the whole city of Baltimore, I’ve got a lot to learn, everything is going to be new to me. And I’m excited and attacking this head-on like I do everything else.”
He continued: “I’m going there with one purpose and that’s to help this team get to where, ultimately, it needs to be. And where everybody wants to go. And that’s winning a Super Bowl.”
