Jill Scott has swapped the football pitch for the espresso machine as she now runs a coffee shop just seven miles from her old place of work at the Etihad Stadium. The ex-Manchester City star is the second-most capped star in Lionesses history, just 11 behind record-holder Fara Williams.

Scott was an integral part of the Lionesses, helping them win the 2022 European Championships and working hard in midfield during a historic run to Wembley Stadium. With stints at Sunderland, Everton and City, the 39-year-old was most known for her explosive outburst in the Euro 2022 final against Germany. Scott was caught on camera letting out her emotions at Sydney Lohmann, shouting "F*** off you f****** p*****," with her signature north east accent standing out to viewers.

After being announced as part of the Soccer Aid line-up, taking place at London Stadium in May, Scott discussed the opening of her coffee shop, BOXX2BOXX. The cafe was opened alongside co-owner and fiancee Shelly Unitt - and it was named after the ex-Lionesses iconic position as a box-to-box midfielder for club and country.

Speaking exclusively to the Express, Scott admitted that she isn't actually as hands-on as many would think in the shop. She said: "Yeah, I love going to the coffee shop, but I don't, to be honest, I don't do a lot of the work in there!"

Highlighting the reason she opened BOXX2BOXX, Scott added: "But yeah, I think once you retire, you're just kind of, if you get offered work, then you try and just do the best job that you can do. So you can probably do quite a lot of different things.

"But yeah, it's just great to get an opportunity, and the coffee shop is all about community as well."

After retiring from football in 2022, Scott also appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and was crowned Queen of the Jungle just months after swapping the pitch for the screen. When asked if she would return to TV for Strictly Come Dancing or The Traitors, the 39-year-old said: "They're all great programmes, and yeah, I think once I did the jungle, it was a good experience.

"So I don't know if my time in reality TV has kind of been and gone, but who knows, you never know."

Scott will play in Soccer Aid alongside popular influencer and current I'm a Celeb winner AngryGinge, and she's looking forward to catching up with the avid Manchester United supporter.

She added: "I loved my time in the jungle. I'm actually looking forward to catching up with AngryGinge and speaking about his time in the jungle as well."
