Liverpool have the chance to bring in some new faces this summer when the next transfer window opens
Liverpool are ‘preparing’ an offer for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, according to Fichajes. The Reds are being linked with a move for the centre-back this summer. He is facing an uncertain long-term future at the City Ground.
Arne Slot’s side won 3-1 away at Wolves in the FA Cup last time out. Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones got their goals at Molineux. They are back in Champions League action on Tuesday night against Galatasaray.
Liverpool size up move for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo
Liverpool could see Murillo as a potential replacement for Ibrahima Konate, who is out of contract at the end of the season. He is due to see his deal expire in late June. The Frenchman is yet to put pen-to-paper on an extension at Anfield and is set to leave as things stand.
Murillo, 23, has been a standout player for Nottingham Forest over recent times. They will face a battle to keep hold of him in the next transfer window, especially if they are relegated to the Championship. Prior to his switch to England, he rose up through the ranks at Corinthians before breaking into their first-team as a youngster.
The Brazil international, who has one cap to his name so far, left South America in 2023 and hasn’t looked back. He has made 104 appearances for his current club in all competitions to date, 29 of which have come in this campaign, and he has scored four goals. Liverpool could now try and lure him to Merseyside later this year.
Arne Slot reaction to Liverpool’s FA Cup win over Wolves
Speaking after their victory over Wolves, Liverpool boss Slot said: “I'm really happy a few players have come back, because I don't think I've ever complained about a player's availability, but if you have to play with 12, 13 or 14 players every three days, then I think it does make sense that maybe once in a while an individual performance is not of the level we are used to of him because they have to play so many games. That's why I respect them so much; every three days the same players had to play.”
